As there has been a request for it, below is a link to the diagram that I used to create my quilt that used only the stars from Lori Holt’s “The Quilted Witch” pattern. Of course, theoretically, a quilt could be made with any stars that are the same sizes as hers. Note that this is NOT a step-by-step pattern, but just the diagram with measurements that I worked from to make my quilt. Be aware that there is a bit of partial seaming involved when putting all the blocks together. FYI, the rules I used when combining the star blocks were:

  • I would incorporate all 41 star blocks from the pattern (no more, no less).

  • Blocks would either sit right next to each other, or I could insert one-inch wide strips of fabric between them to make them all fit together. Fabric strips could be wider on the edges of the quilt top to make it into a rectangular shape.

  • Just like when making the blocks, any fabric for the strips had to come from my IKEA bag of charity quilt leftover scraps. And, like I did when making the blocks, I repeated some fabrics, including some already used in the blocks, making sure the same fabric was never placed right next to itself.
